That is untrue.
"People don't care if it's Helvetica or Arial"
This is true, and I agree, but that's like saying people don't care if it's A4 or Letter. It doesn't matter that people don't care, nobody I know of claims that a typeface can save the world.
"We, designers, care more about our egos than our actual jobs"
You cannot say that, how is it that you can make a statement like that about all designers, that's just silly and not true.
To "change the world" you have to change peoples' perceptions and thoughts towards that world. Not just "fill somebodies belly". It's a bigger issue, mate.
I'm with you on the anti-inbred design world attitude, I'm 1000% for it, but you're killing yourself by dressing your thoughts up in some paradoxical rant that looks like a "turning of the times" thing. THAT, my friend, is ego
