(Sep 25 06, 16:00)i found that people were overall very rude to each other. i think there are many different cultures there which operate on a slightly different wavelength, and this causes tension. driving around town is a nightmare, and basic service and retail industries have unbelievably poor standards.
i actually like saying hello to the bank teller or grocery checker and getting a smile and a hello back. if i make plans with people, it's kind of nice when they show up. the language thing also pissed me off. i emigrated to the US and respect the country, so i speak english. that i was expected to speak spanish (even though i am fluent) was beyond irritating.
who knows...maybe it was me. i've now lived in denver for 4 years and have never been made to feel that way though.
different strokes, i guess. i do still miss the coconut grove dog park ;)
