    This is just arguing semantics.

    Trying to say design is not art or vice versa is like sayijng a terrier is not a dog.

    ART in the larger sense, describes all creative human production. from arranging type on a page, to painting, sculpture, writing, or gardening.

    GOOD ART requires a dedication to the craft that almost neccesitates that the output be saleable; so as to pay for materials used and costs of living for the artist.

    And in all cases, it's the artist's knowledge of his craft, and a willingness to explore and break the rules to better communicate that seperates the good from the mediocre.
