but Israel's problems with Hezbullah go back to the 1980s... Then they invaded to push the PA and Yasser Arafat out of Lebanon and into exile.
That policy failed as Arafat died in Palestinian territory.
Now they invade to drive Hezbullah out. That will also fail.
The only real solutio is a comprehesive peace settlement with the Palestinians. I think it's naive to think that those living north of the Litani river have no concern on what goes on betwee the Israeli's/Palestinians.
After Hezbullah drove Israel out of South Lebanon, and were hailed as heroes, crossborder skirmishes are day to day reality of two parties that never declared peace. I'm sure Israelis cotinued to attack Hezbullah positions ad cotinued to hold their memebrs prisoners as Hezbullah fired Katyusha rockets into Kiryat Shmona.
It's an ongoing 60year old drama. But Israel's resonse in destroying Lebanon... I mean I can understand the outrage, but still... this is only strengthening Hezbullah.
