I think I would stay away from HP. My gf's laptop is an HP and the HD died about a month after she got it and we had to have it replaced. Then she had an issue with a row of pixels on the LCD turning completely green and had to ship it back for repairs. Luckily she had a warranty. My roommate also had an HP which just mysteriously died one day. Only 2 examples, but enought to make me skeptical.
I'm thinking about getting a laptop soon, and I am going with dell. I also plan on spending the extra couple hundred for a good warranty cuz i hear their support is pretty decent.
