hey hey.. some cats here know their shit. canon 20D best ish for the price... hands down.
cmos better than ccd.
raw better than jpg... always.
learn with raw... read photoshop user magazine and learn learn learn... do a few adobe working with raw tutorials and have fun.

but RAW is only as good as the converter you use in post-production.
A lot of camera's photos are processed differently by different RAW converters..
check dpreview.com to see what converter works best with what camera...
