    i pay bit over half of $780 for 4 room apt in Queens - Ridgewood (was living here for 9 years though).

    You think:
    Rent: $470
    Cable: $50
    Electricity: $30
    Phone: $60
    Gas: $30
    Transportation: $100
    Food: $800

    Those are necessities to survive (about $1600/month).

    I freelance so i know if i make over that every month then i'm good. Then also i know that winter are workless so i need to save for that shit so realisticaly i need 2x as much/month.
