anything you can do in php you can do in asp and vice versa. there are differences in terms of server stuff and blah blah blah but you don't need to bother with that here.
the real question is that asp/.net programmers are harder to come by and charge more because people aren't using php on the enterprise level; this is because there are more business level products for asp and jsp then php (think PC vs Mac)
SO, if you want to do some techincal stuff on the cheap go php. but if you are stuck with asp, don't worry about WHAT can be done, more WHO is going to do it.
