why on earth would you support their rights as parents without supporting their rights as partners?

(Jun 28 06, 08:24)being their child's godfather doesn't mean I support the notion of them being parents. It just means I care about the welfare of their kid and care enough about my friends in order to look after said kid.

(Jun 28 06, 08:26)yes, but being unified and having children are really closely tied together, at least in our culture. Being a godfather suggests that you agree with their decision because you are also a form of a guardian, putting you at the same level as the parents.
