    To make sure I'm not removing myself in an impersonal way from the discussion, let's say a gay friend of mine gets married. They want me to be in the wedding. I politely refuse because of moral objections. They ask me to be the godfather of their adopted son. I happily accept.

    I would still hang out with them and support them as a friend; however, I would not take a stand for their rights as a married couple, because I would believe that they are breaking laws of marriage that were set in place by someone much more powerful than the US government, and are not lawfully married as far as God is concerned. If they needed money and I couldn't afford to help them, I would cut back on my spending habits and find as way to give them money.

    Would the above scenarios make me a bad friend, in your opinion?
