Graceland used to be on the outskirts of the city when the king lived there, but now it sits on a strip full of auto body garages & sketchy pawn shops. No reason to go to through that part of town really...
Germantown is the nicest suburb, full of Mercedes & high-end plazas - It would be a great place to raise kids (in terms of schools & such).
If I were ever to move back, I'd choose to live in Midtown. It has a lot of beautiful old neighborhoods, more arts culture, and is centrally located.
*And yes, k0na... there ARE queers in Tennessee, but not many steers. (Memphis has been called the "San Francisco of the South"!) This is probably why it's not quite as conservative as some other southern cities...
