(Jun 20 06, 08:39)nobody is talking about a savings account. ira's, 401k's and the like are investment vehicles that put money to work actively in the market.
however, there are some killer rates for just basic savings accounts right now.
i get 4.80% at HSBC Bank - http://www.hsbcdirect.com
