I met my wife in person.. My job sent me to Atlanta for two weeks, she was working there..
then the next two years of our relationship was email/im/phone calls, and $200 plane ticket every couple of months. The expense was a pain, but otherwise it was really cool. Seeing each other every 2 months was fun, much more fun than if we had been together all the time.
The curious thing is that now, although we live together, we often communicate better by email or im.
