I got a lot of negative feedback from friends and family when I mentioned I might be moving up to NOVA for a job at AOL. Since AOL is based out of Sterling I figured living out west or north of there would keep me far enough from the beltway to stay sane and keep me close enough to visit DC on the weekends if I wanted to.
I’ve had 10 jobs in about 8 years and this last year at AOL has been the best job I have had so far. It’s been great for my portfolio, for my family and for my wallet & sanity. It’s not the same company it was just 2 years ago.
Since AOL has gone open web they are playing catch up on technology but the great thing is that I get to be part of that new forefront and vision. I have no idea where AOL will end up, but I’m happy to know that I have the ability to effect it from such a low position on the totem poll. I’ve got 1 more senior position open on my team if anyone has some Flash chops and hates the beltway. Email me.
And I'm totally down for a NT meetup.
