Crouwel, you need to realize that disagreeing with a person's beliefs is not disrespecting them. Why do you conflate the two?
Our decisions about such issues should not be based on how we feel, but based on evidence. We need to objectively research the facts which support or do not support a notion and reject or accept the notion based on it's merits alone.
