I like sketchpads myself, but that doesn't necessarily address your question. I don't actually keep a book either, but you may really want to consider it. You could even see about publishing it if it is really good.....
Another alternative is to scan all your source, and either make some kind of PDF, or make it into an html page for universal usage. Although, it is deffinately nice to get away from the comp, the web page is something you can kind of take with you, without worrying about being a mess. (Unless your HTML is crap..... :P )
