Ok i have a huge personal gripe with this concept that we are selling time and that time is money. I have worked in quite a few companies and I really do not think this business model works.
First off lets be honest we are not selling time, we are not selling a product. What we are selling is a realtionship. I feel that your realtionships with your clients are the fundimental foundation for a Design business.
I have found that the idea of time sheets gets in the way of this. I can not tell you the amount of times i have been told to go to a client and infor them that because they are incuring more time on the project that we are going to have to charge them more money. It usual amounts to a couple of grand.
That works great the first time around. The second time they get pissed and well usual there is not third time. So for an extra 3k you just lost a realtionship that could have been worth maybe 20k.
I do not know maybe this is just the diatribe of an angry designer. What do the rest of you all think.
