    I wouldn't call myself a photographer or anything like it but took the plunge & bought the Nikon D70 about 18 months ago & haven't looked back...

    It is a great piece of kit & well worth the money... I agree with much of what has been said, particularly the comment about buying either a point-and-click or a Digital SLR - nothing in between... the difference is HUGE & it all depends on how much you plan on using it...

    But I would highly recommend the D70 - 6 to 8 megapixels is plenty & some of the shots I've taken have been blown up very large (billboards & such like) without losing resolution...

    Take the plunge, methinks...
