It has to do with the blocking of mail relays to prevent spam zombies (no relation to me). Many large ISPs consider POP mail sends from any domain other than their own as a security breach. So da-fork is right on in directing you to change your outgoing mail server to your own ISP's address. MT support has a pretty consise list of outgoing mail server addresses and was albe to read me mine over the phone.
