I am sure you can get demo versions of all of them.
Really, though, look at some reviews by some reputable sources (not random posts here). I use Max, and I like some things about Maya, but for someone starting out, there are better (and significantly cheaper) solutions to either of those. But you can't go wrong with Maya, it will just be a little tougher to use.
