    I agree that peddling CD's and other assorted merchandise is ridiculous. Also, I think the "modern art" on the walls - the same paintings in every store - is sad, especially when yuppies profess their desire to have one "just like it", or think that's what abstract expressionism really is all about. And the people who work at and hang out in Starbucks frighten me (well, people at the mall scare me more, but still). At the same time, I could care less what hipsters think in terms of the five minutes I spend getting a triple expresso in the morning, and I recognize that a personal boycott against any corporate monster will do absolutely nothing to change their imperialistic dominance. Apathy is not the answer, but neither is wearing all black and running in traffic to show your antiwar beliefs.

    And yes, I like Peet's better, although the scene's a tad stuffy as well.
