"If You can take it to a friend with a phone line you can do initial guided setup there and then after it finishes with that, bring it home and set it up with a wired network adapter. If you want to use a wireless G network adapter, you will need to leave it there until it downloads software 7.2. Look here for the adapter compatibility lists: www.tivo.com/adapters
