I use Max and Final Render.
Depends on what you want it for. For arch and product viz, you'll find more resources and ease of use in Max.
But really, it's just a matter of taste. I use Max because I know it, it's got a billion plugins that are extremely helpful, and you can find a model of anything with ease.
For the money, C4D is pretty hard to beat.
I am still a fan of FormZ, and the new version shows a lot of promise.
