Unless I'm mistaken, the only external HD you can get without the need for a power supply, are enclosures that contain laptop harddrives (2.5" rather than 3.5").
So FireWire plus Laptop Drive enclosure equals a very expensive drive (cost per Gigabyte).
Hence, the selection for less than 100 quid is quite small.
My personal suggestion would be to think about using a USB 2.0 enclosure, as it would fit your cost range, has suitable speeds for transfer.
