I'd say always burn a disc of the comps you like, and while it might not be too smart to put it on your site, you should def. put it in your printed book, or CD-rom thingy, or whatever. If people asky why they've seen it before, just tell them you worked on it, which is true. They prolly won't call up the old agency and ask questions.
I've done work that never got presented to the powers that be for bullshit political reasons, & I'll be danged if they aren't on my website for all to see. So while they might technically own the work, they can't rip me off in the future. Serves 'em right...
