Actually Question, I've been aware of alternate meanings behind the symbol for over 20 years. For three reasons, namely having actually gone to history class, been a practicing Buddhist a large portion of my life, and having genuine interest in learning about other cultures. As someone involved in a creative field, I'm stunned you feel differently.
I'm also stunned you see this man's symbol of faith the same way as a burning cross, an icon which by definition is meant as a desecration and displayed out of hate and the intent to cause violence. An unusual view, but you're welcome to it.
You can call me a loser if you like, but I suspect if you were to spend more time interacting with another very different culture, you might feel differently.
