This was a great opportunity for you to step up and illuminate someone's perceptions. You're so angry and venting here yet you said nothing there where it counted.
Ignorance exists. Personally, I think it's good that they were talking about their (mis)perceptions openly, rather than hiding their prejudices. The only way bigotry and racism will ever be diminished is if we are not afraid to talk about it. You missed a golden opportunity.
