finder.dat and FRK etc are just files that the hard drive uses to locate your work. ie where each file is.
You can't open those files, they are just for the computer. Your work files have gone grey because they are not linked to a program anymore. Use probably used a different version of the software a while ago.
If you open each file from within the relevant application they should open up (ie go to file>open)
then press save and they will have the correct extension and icon again.
You have to know which program they were created in originally.
