I didn't need to "use" my hammer to "fix" it. It seems it's actually the shite epson paper that came with the printer that's to blame. I'm glad I ordered some cannon paper at the same time and my god what a difference it makes. No pixellation and very sharp prints. Better than I've had from online photo developers in the past.
Not yet tried A4 though, just 4"x6" size.
