I would look for books on raising adopted children. I would assume that knowing that he is loved and that he has a stable permanent home would be the most important thing.

I would encourage him to get involved in a wide range of activities to develop himself as a person as much as possible. Sports, musical instruments, etc. Teaching him to snowboard would be a great bonding experience with you that he will never forget.

Try to make a positive impact on his life in any way possible. Think about the areas in which your parents lacked in raising you and try to improve upon them.

I am sure with your professional knowledge and world experience you can encourage him so that he can grow up to be a successful adult in all aspects.

I would say don't try to force any one religious belief (or lack of belief) on him but rather be knowledgeable in various ideas and traditions and let him choose what feels right to him.
