I always get SWAP proofs for ads. A lot of pubs have a proofing system set up.....even if they are printing web (which most if not all pubs are).
Your type is losing its crispness because of dot gain and because you have, I'm guessing, darker colors around your type (read: multiple plates, more ink coverage, more dot gain). Trapping, yes, its a wonderful thing.
