It's pretty hard to say what should be done in situations like this.
I'd have to agree that if you do a crime, your time in jail should be proportionate to how bad the crime is. He should've known the laws in that specific place.
I'm still not sure if I am for the death penalty or not. I'm against it, for the most part, but then I think about what I would really think if someone close to me was murdered or something.
