There are buses you can ride for free (on the ski pass) all around tirol which is the best transportation around the area, and taxi is pretty cheap. I wouldn't drive myself because there's nowhere to park when events are going on (1920s infrastructure) and there's a 0 limit on alcohol and driving so if you get caught behind the wheel after a tall one you get locked up badly.
Everything doesn't have to be sold out in central kitzbuhel, I dont know but people tend to book months in advance in my experience.. I would guess average for a city center two-bed'er is like $200 per night
