My own wee tuppence worth is that if people ARE rioting then there is an underlying reason for it. "putting it down hard" is only going to aggravate these tensions surely..

There is no excuse. There IS a reason - granted - and it certainly shouldn't be treated as an excuse, and needs attending to once the little fuck wits are shown they can't do as they please. Put out the fire, look at the cause later.
