your over reacting and its making you sound like an amature.
Just show him examples of previous work you've done, tell him WHY he needs you, what you can do for him, how you will do it and do up a quick homepage design.
thats a demo. A demo is not a full working site, also, go to flashkit and find a nice nav system and tell him that you will be doing something similar, but better
