i interviewed at lowe twice. it was basically a "you've got the job, let's tell you about it" situation. it was amazing. the art director loved my work and showed me his personal work, as well as initial comps for the saab campaign. it was just eye opening. a lot of the initial designs were incredible (as far as i am concerned). dynamic, rugged, individual, screaming of attention and flair. but saab rejected everything, wanted incredibly simple work that is just, well, the norm.
it was at htat point i knew lowe and NYC weren't for me. i grew up believing in punk rock and DIY, and i'm willing to sacrifice that to make a dollar, but i just am not ready to get on my knees to spew out obviously awful work for the sake of someone else's dollar. i'll be content getting rid of teenage girls' blemishes while i wait for something better to come along.
