i got some ideas for your 'land'
1.) all work should be voluntary, but helping out should have some sort of incentive. need a house built? ok, just sign up for a new one and volunteers from the community will help build it.
this type of standard will have people doing what they enjoy and doing it as often as they like. when people enjoy their work, they tend to do a better job.2.) trade can be based on a loose bartering system. if i'm a farmer and you need food, i'll give it to you free, but later if i need my car fixed and you're a mechanic, you can come over and fix my car.
