I hear ya brothah. I haven't had a hack undercut me like that for a few months but every now and again it happens and just pisses me right off.

Usually when the client says something like "so and so will do it for a wooden nickel and a pat on the bum." I laugh in their face, to make sure they understand how much of a joke the other bidder is and then I tell them some stories about clients that have gone cheap to begin with then come back and paid me what I asked for in the first place.

For instance, if I say it'll cost 2K and someone else says it'll cost 800 then I tell them that by choosing the lower bidder they're actually going to end up paying 2800 once everything is said and done because they'll spend the 800, get a shit product and then eventually turn around pay the 2K to get it done properly later on down the road.

So, they should save themselves some time and money and do it right the first time.

After all, a website is an investment in their business, if they don't care enough about their business to get it done properly then that's their problem.

It sounds really harsh but it works . . . sometimes.
