Netgear combo wireless-routers are good quality and cheap and nice setup interface. I would only buy an Airport Express for what it does well, which is being connected to a stereo for airTunes, or as an access point when travelling (connecting to a hotel ethernet port for example), or for extending a wireless network. For a fixed internet access solution, I'd go for a Netgear wireless-router which has the additional benefit of 4 ethernet ports.
