The employment market in Australia at the moment has been described as a 'worker's market'... there are lots of jobs out there at the moment...
I've stayed in Melbourne before, but live the state over in South Australia... at the moment we're experiencing our lowest unemployment rate in history... work is good.
Visa's are a pain in the ass, but they'll be an even bigger pain in the ass for you if you don't just bite the bullet, start hitting the websites, and making phone calls. Having mates that have done it before makes it much easier, but the immigration services are there to help you....
