I'm gonna be honest because I hate it when people get all gooey and on people's jocks...
SkinnyCorp kinda sucked. The presentation seemed very tossed together. I honestly feel that the product shots saved them because it distracted you and made you laugh sometimes.
Chuck was OK. Like Josh said - it took him FOR-EV-OR to show anything. You mentioned "you gotta take risks" about a half dozen times too many too. The one thing I will say though is that first, it was his first time speaking - so he was really good in that aspect. The other thing I will say is that he probably really reached out to the younger crowd out there. I've done the Border's thing too and know how to stand up for my abilities when needed, but I also feel many designers don't know how to do this.. so I thought some of his advice was really good for the younguns out there.
The stop-motion guys work was interesting, but he was much too dry and it was annoying how his clips constantly stuttered and dropped. It was also annoying how he would search for like 5 minutes for a file name I could see in like 3 seconds... I wanted to shout out at him so bad like 3 times... "YO! The Jets one is the 3rd one down that says JETS!"
After Dless and 08 and stuff - it was finally cool to see Josh. While people may debate whether or not his art is that artistic anymore - you gotta love a man who tells people to look for inspiration around them. I swear 80% of the people nowadays get inspiration only from award sites. You also have to like his energy. He and White had the best energy. They sucked you in hardcore.
InterSilence... ditch the boring-ass intro stuff and jump to that insane music 3-d shit that sounds like air raids from all directions. Skip to the insane realtime 3-d drawing shit. The first 15-20 minutes I was like... uh... hmm... and by the end I was like WTF!!! Good god I want to play with that drawing app.
Pope was hands-down the cockiest SOB there, but you know... the dude is sick... so you almost admire the trait more than despise it.
White was close, but Jesus man... he's insane and fun and the living example of speed/coke in speech form. I loved it.
Overall I had some beefs with the event, but I think it was pretty sucessful for it's first run in NYC.
I'm out.
