stay calm...and apologize.
say it like you just explained... "Man I was tlaking to someone and for some reason it came up, I'm sorry...let me know if there's anything I can do to help..." praise him, make it seem like your are there for him and you'll be fine. Tell him what he wants to hear. If that doesn't work, poke him in the eye and run...he might get a couple shots off but can't see so you're safe.
