    I would suggest looking at skatepark sites on the web, write to their owners, builders, reps, etc. and ask what they did.

    Many of the advocates of skateparks would likely offer you advice about what they did. It's crazy how many parks have been built around the country in the last 5 years. Probably more than there ever was during the boom of skateparks in the 70s.

    So many cities are getting behind them, and offering skateparks alongside other public recreation areas. Granted, Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the US, but we have two free outdoor parks here, and they're talking about another one close to downtown that mimics more of an urban environment to keep skaters off private buildings and such in the city.

    Best of luck - you'll have a blast if you get around to helping design one.
