Let none be forgotten - friend or foe.

My mother was in an internment camp in indonesia during the war. She never had any bad feelings toward the japanese, as children her age(2-5) were treated kindly, given candy etc.

Also, as a colonial occupier, The Netherlands wasn't in a position to be too critical, I suppose.

When I was 28, I had a friend of japanese decent whose parents had been interned in the US. It was great moment when we realized that we had this thing in common, really strengthened our friendship.

Just proved to me what a mess the world was at the time but that good things can come out of bad, however small.

Why can't we learn from these mistakes and have peace in the world?
