Yeah Tokyo is great, don't worry, even if you get there without really knowing where to go, your stay will be to short anyway!
Late august = still very hot and humid so get ready for that.
And the must for any trip to Tokyo : $$$ and 1 extra empty bag in your suitcase to bring all the goodies back.
