I just bought a 350D mainly due to the price also i've been happy with other canon products. I'm more of an amature photographer though, I don't do a lot in my design work at this stage.
I also boght a fixed 50mil lens (cause I love 'em :) and am looking for a good standard zoom at the moment ... some of the sigma ones look good. I've heard bad things about the kit lens, but I haven't teted it yet.
I like some of the things that people have listed as negatives about the camera, so i guess it depends what you use it for. I like the fact that its light as hell, and sure its a bit cheaper constrution but its sooooo much cheaper than the 20D, more lens money i say.

but ... yeah it sounds like your more interested in a higher end camera ... but yeah some of the canon lenses look sensational so that might be another point for the 20D
