i learnt to surf in hawaii on a longboard and it was soooo easy! on those waves you have 5 minutes to work out how to stand up while you ride the wave in on a giant streamlined tabletop, i saw a 60 year old japanese man doing handstands on his board.
then i got home to perth with the blunt boards and short dumpy waves and i couldn't do sheeet. i got bashed in the head by my board, mocked by some 12 year old gromets who shouted "get off the waves ya farkin mole!" before they kicked sand in my face and laughed at the tears of shame coursing down my cheeks. *sigh*
The tragedy of powers lost.
