    find yourself some little ankle biters(2-3 foot waves) and just ride the foam on your stomach for the first few waves until you can get the feel for the water. then start standing up after you feel the board is moving. Then start catching waves on the shoulder as they break.

    def. stay away from people til you can duck drive without losing your board and catching waves without the board shooting out from beneath you.
