Cubase is far better sequencer than reason, I haven't tried the new version of reason though.
just to start, if you are doing sound design for video or animation, you can't see video on reason or in live.I do agree that ableton is a great music sequencer, but in my opinion logic is still the best one for studio.
but this is all a matter of taste really, everyone can rave about different applicaations, but you have to tried them first.
I do think that sound design and music composing are 2 different things.
