brtman is right about that peak training. top riders train to peak in the tour de france, not only lance.
i think lance is just so determined and his team sticks to the strategy better than other teams. also, cycling has a lot to do is the mind game. top riders looks at their rival's face, body parts to see if they are going to crack. lance is good at cracking them.
